Swim Teams’ Efforts Bring in Huge Donation for Local Food Pantry

Thanks to the efforts of the North Tonawanda, Ken-Ton East and Ken-Ton West boys swim teams, the North Tonawanda Interfaith Food Pantry will be able to help out area families in need.

“This is the first time in a while that we have had a food drive,” said Chris Heyer, NT swim coach. “I feel that the food drive allowed many of our student athletes and their families the opportunity to share with their immediate community. We chose the North Tonawanda Food Pantry since it assists neighbors, friends and relatives that we see every day. Through this event and through participation in Carly’s Crossing in the summer, the swim teams have established that community involvement and charity is essential for those capable and willing.”

The multi-team effort was a huge success. They donated over 100 pounds of food. “We are very appreciative that the Ken-Ton schools participated with us,” said Coach Heyer. “It shows the level of respect and sportsmanship in our league. We always support each other, and we support those in need.”
