Drake Visit from Author of Winn Dixie
3rd grade students at Drake Elementary participated in a virtual event where they met the author of the book Winn Dixie, Kate DiCamillo. The kids had an opportunity to hear what motivated the author to write Winn Dixie, specific elements of the book that were her favorite and she even read the first chapter of the story to the classes. There was also a Q & A session towards the end, which the students engaged in. Following the virtual event, the 3rd graders were treated to pizza and snacks, compliments of our Friends of Drake organization. Thank you to Mr. Kraus and our other 3rd grade teachers for making this special event happen!
