Bunnies and Bookmarks Make a Fun Day for MS and Drake Students
Students from NT Middle School recently visited Drake Elementary to make a fun day for all our students.
In preparation for spring, the Middle School students along with their FACS (Family and Consumer Sciences) teacher Madison Fredrickson, did an art project with the first graders of a cute bunny to bring home. The craft involved cutting out construction paper, coloring, painting and gluing.
As an added surprise, the Middle School students brought gifts for the Drake students when they gave bookmarks that the 1st graders designed. The FACS club members sewed them for the first graders so they could use them as they pursue their reading adventures. “The reason that we chose to make bookmarks was because April 2nd was International Children’s Book Day,” explains Mrs. Fredrickson. “The students also read their favorite childhood book to the students in their classrooms.”
Principal Scott Mueller says the students were excited once they were given back their bookmark designs which they created weeks earlier. It was heartwarming watching our older students interact and work with the smaller students. Everyone had a great time making new friends!
