What is a School Psychologist?
School Psychologists have specialized training in both Psychology and Education. School Psychologists use thier training and skills to team with educators, parents, administrators, and other mental health professionals to ensure that every child learns in a safe, healthy, and supportive environment. School Psychologists understand school systems, effective teaching practices, and successful learning. School Psychologists are trained in mental health, child development, school organization, learning, behavior, and motivation.
I am the School Psychologist for NT Middle and Drake Elementary School. I am at NT Middle on days 3, 4, 5 and Drake on days 1, 2, 6. I currently hold my Permanent Certification in NYS as a School Psychologist. I also am a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) and a Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) Trainer for Verbal De-escalation and Physical Restraint Techniques. I am a life member of Psi Chi National Honor Society for Psychology. I am currently a member of the District's Response to Intervention (RtI) Development Committee, NT Middle's Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Tier 1 and Tier 2 Committee's, and NT Middle and Drake Elementary's Inquiry Teams.
