Principal's Message

  • Dear North Tonawanda Middle School Community,

I hope this letter finds you enjoying the relaxing days of summer and that you and your students are looking forward to a wonderful school year together in September. It is with great excitement that I craft this letter of introduction to you as the new Principal of North Tonawanda Middle School. I am honored to have the opportunity to work with such an outstanding staff and school community to support our students.

I have been dedicated to the field of education for more than 15 years having worked with students at the middle school level as a special education teacher, at the high school level as an assistant principal, and as a swimming coach after the traditional school day ends. The middle school principalship provides me the opportunity to work collaboratively with teachers daily to promote academic rigor, connect with our school’s counselors and social workers to meet the needs of our students so they can experience academic success, as well as the ability to engage with families as parents and guardians must have a meaningful voice in the education of their child. I firmly believe that every student can excel at North Tonawanda Middle School when the partnership between home and school is strong.

Middle school is a time during an educational career marked by exploration. Students experience rapid academic, physical, and social-emotional growth during these brief years. Each day presents an opportunity for students to achieve their personal best as character education is instilled in many activities they experience. I encourage all students to seek out opportunities that they find intriguing to discover skills and talents that they possess.

In closing, please know that my door is always open to you. I welcome your conversation, thoughts, and positive input throughout this year and beyond. I am thrilled about this school year and look forward to working with Assistant Principal Mueller to ensure that our students have a safe, academically challenging, and exciting experience. I look forward to meeting you.

    Sincerely,

    Mr. Joshua R. Janese
    NTMS Principal
