Principal's Message

  • Dear Middle School Community:

We are excited about our new middle school on Meadow Drive. Last school year was our first year that we were a grades 7 and 8 building attached to the high school, creating a new high school/middle school campus.

Our mission at North Tonawanda Middle School is to provide a student-centered learning environment that will enable all students to become lifelong productive members of society through the development of their intellectual, emotional, social and physical abilities, while respecting the rights, talents and individual differences of others.

Middle school years are often filled with some drama and excitement. We recognize our students are experiencing physical, social and emotional changes all the time and will need the support of both the school and home working together to help them manage these changes and successfully navigate the middle school.

Every student is a member of a team. Each team includes a core group of teachers who work closely to best meet the individual needs of their students. Our teachers set high expectations for academic achievement while providing the necessary supports to ensure student success. We offer rigorous instruction in ELA, Math, Social Studies, Science, Foreign Language, Technology, Physical Education, Music, Health, FACS and Art. In addition, we offer several clubs and activities such as Student Council, FACS Club, Foreign Language Club, The Morning Show and Newspaper Club.

Our School Climate Committee has been focusing on creating caring communities throughout our building. We have been focusing on students building connections with teachers and peers to build a stronger sense of community at NTMS through multiple team and school-wide activities.

The foundation to students' success is based on the partnerships among students, staff and parents. Active parent participation is essential to our success. Parents are invited to become involved in attending Parent Partnership meetings at 6:30 p.m. Please check the District Activities Calendar for dates. Also, parents can sign up for a Parent Portal account. The Parent Portal can give relevant information regarding their child’s performance on homework, tests and quizzes, as well as attendance. We encourage parents to communicate with their child’s teachers and staff to establish a successful home/school connection.

I am excited for the opportunity to work with you and your child to provide a productive and safe learning environment filled with high expectations, focused instruction and successful learning for all students.
