And the Winner Is...
The Chocolate Touch!
One District, One Book
-
This year, our three NT Elementary Schools - in our new configuration (Ohio, Spruce and Drake) - are very proud to introduce our first implementation of One District, One Book!
What is One District, One Book, you might be wondering? It is a celebration of reading! As educators, we know how important reading is for our students' success. But, more importantly, we also know that families who read together, grow together. The same is true for community. This year - through One District, One Book - we will be inviting our families and our community to foster a love for reading that starts at home and continues to school.
Through this initiative, students and families will vote between two amazing books: Superfudge and The Chocolate Touch. The book that receives the most votes, our district will provide a copy for every K-3 student to read. In addition, we will provide weekly videos of guest readers, support materials for families to participate in their child's reading, and a plethora of other literacy-rich activities. Much more info will follow on our district website.
Voting for your favorite book will take place this year starting Sept. 17 and ending Sept. 21 in the following community locations: Platter's Chocolates, the NT Public Library and the NT Recreation Center.
We will reveal and celebrate the winning book selection at “The Riviera” theatre on Oct. 11 from 7 to 8 p.m. Watch for flyers and future announcements on our district website for additional information.
