Capital Project Phase 1A and 1B Updates
Phase 1A Project Highlights:
This phase of the project involved $14 million in renovations to Drake Elementary School and 
North Tonawanda Middle School. Improvements at both schools include:
- Interactive white boards and data drops for computer workstations in all classrooms
- Updated bus loops, parent pick-up/drop-off areas, staff parking
- Mechanical, electrical and plumbing upgrades

Floor tile abatement
Renovations at Drake Elementary School reached substantial completion in December 2009 and also included new ceilings and relocation of the main office to the South entrance.
Renovations at NT Middle School are on schedule to reach substantial completion in Summer 2010. In addition to new windows, rooftop and exhaust systems, major renovations at the middle school included an addition to support Orleans-Niagara BOCES programs --19,000 square feet of new space was added -- along with an integral bus loop. The addition has reached substantial completion and the transition to the new space from Meadow Elementary School will take place this summer.
In addition, a new roof was installed over the high school pool facility and bleachers were reconditioned for three of the high school gyms.
Phase 1B Project Highlights:
Preliminary work for this next phase of the project began in May and will encompass $26 million in renovations to NT High School, Meadow Elementary School, Ohio Elementary School and Spruce Elementary School. Construction is scheduled to be completed by the beginning of September 2011. Renovations at all four schools will include:
- Wireless computer system upgrades
- Interactive white boards and computer workstations
- Updated bus loops, parent pick-up/drop-off areas, staff parking and high school student parking
- Upgraded sidewalks and drainage
- Roofing upgrades at all four schools and a total roof replacement at Meadow Elementary School
- Mechanical, electrical and plumbing upgrades
- Floor tile abatement
Windows will be replaced at NT High School. Ohio Elementary will undergo substantial work to update the exterior glazing, walls and windows. Spruce Elementary will receive new gymnasium windows, plus a new hot water heating system and boilers to replacethe old steam system. The hot water system at NT High School will receive upgrades. At Meadow Elementary, the administrative offices will be relocated. New ceilings will be added at NT High School and Spruce Elementary.
