    • The main pieces of information required for registration are:  An original birth certificate for each child, along with two pieces of documentation verifying residency.  The registration packet does specify the proper documentation required for residency.

    • If the child does not live with both parents listed on the birth certificate, the parent registering the child must provide a copy of the most recent custody/residence/visitation court order. Child Support Orders usually do not specify the information needed.

The New York State Education commissioner requires that a non-parent in the district must financially support and have “total and permanent custody and control” of a child to be eligible to register for school under New York State law and district policy.

    • If you or your children are not United States citizens, you will need to present additional documentation as part of the registration process and provide the date on which you entered the United States.
