Groundbreaking Ceremonies for NT School District Capital Improvement Project
Phase I construction work began in May 2009 and continued throughout the summer at NT Middle School and Drake Elementary.
The middle school saw the most work during Phase I where many improvements were completed and a 10-room addition was made to the school. The addition will be leased to the Orleans-Niagara Board of Cooperative Educational Services for 10 years to house district special education programs. The BOCES program is currently housed in Meadow Elementary and will be moved to the middle school.
Other work at both schools included improvements to floors, walls and ceilings. Exterior improvements were made to drainage, repaving and expanding parking lots and creating a bus loop.
Technology upgrades include installing modern electrical systems, wiring and outlets to handle and power modern computers, SMART Boards and other high-tech equipment.
